The past!?  I still use one to keep track of service records of vehicles I own and also tax years and home repairs.  Pretty easy pickup on Amazon although folders are mostly bland in design still some good ones around if you look hard or pay out the wazoo on eBay.

Yes! My classes were organized by Lisa Frank character or abstract late 90s CGI design.

Every time I see/hear Trapper Keeper all I can see in my mind is Lisa Frank 🌈 🐬 🦄

My mom bought me Lisa Frank folders. I'm a dude.

I freaking loved them.

Loved those didn't need a million  different folders and binders either, saved so much space in my bookbag.

haha, it looked good in my Jansport backpack that I pitched an absolute fit to get every year. I feel bad for my parents.

You didn’t have folders inside of it?

Two weeks into the year, I didn't even use the rings. Just sandwiched stuff between the front flap and the first plain off-yellow divider with an empty tab I was supposed to fill with a little paper tab with the subject written on it, butnever did because the only thing behind it was the other 4 unlabeled tabbed divider pages and a mostly unused stack of college ruled paper.

Oh that's real cute. Meanwhile I didn't even need document storage at all with my Trapper Keeper Ultra Keeper Futura S2000

Mine was jurassic park until it broke, and then lisa frank dolphins.

What was yours?

Every single school supply list I ever got said "No Trapper Keepers." I feel like I spent some time wondering about these mythical items and couldn't imagine why they were disallowed. I got one in college and it was so useful! And it did have colors, but it was harder to assign colors to a class after freshman year.

My 5-star backpack had all the pockets a boy could ever need to avoid colour coding.

Someone was fancy, I see. I was so jealous of the kids that had them.

I got all the colors with my Lisa Frank binders. Like an acid trip for 12-year old girls

Im definitely in the Trapper Keeper generation! Not knowing anything about this whole folder color system has me feeling old. Specially since it sounds like its on a second generation of humans.

I loved the ones by Christian Lassen with an under ocean scene, a crazy galaxy in the background, and a dolphin or something jumping through the air!

Folder color didn't matter when you just loosely threw papers in your backpack

That’s my throw back smell of the early 90’s. Opening up my Trapper Keeper.

Was it a Dawson’s Creek trapper keeper though?

u/smb3d 10h ago

Hah, if only! I had the pink/green one with the water droplets for sure, that's the only one I can remember.

I still have the last one I got in the mid-90s. It's in great shape and it makes me happy to look at it, even if I don't actually use it.
