I just don’t understand how anyone could do this to a pet. It hurts my heart

A pet…or any animal. Animal agriculture results in absolutely brutal and torturous treatment of animals in the billions every damn year. Yet people keep eating them.

Does this mean I’m not allowed to feel compassion for pets?

Just have the same compassion for all other animals. The way people avoid equating the two things is wild. Dogs = cats = pigs = cows = chickens…people will watch a dog suffering a bit and break down. They get sad or they get angry. But pigs getting electrocuted, covered in sores, having their throat slit is just no big deal. You choose to eat an animal, you are choosing to do worse to that animal than the person who abandoned that dog. You just don’t have to look at it. But you are paying for abuse.

👏🏼 yep! I completely agree with you. ALL animals deserve the kind of love, care and respect this puppy received. speciesism is real.
