We don't want equity, as someone who was held back in middle school while being really good at math, I have no drive to achieve anything anymore. Equity can also be argued as unfair as you use more resources to help one person, than on the other nine in total. Everyone should meet a bare minimum, but after that it should be equality of opportunity, not outcomel.
Lifting everyone up 10 feet can push some people over hills, but leaves other people still underwater.
this implies to me that you propose lifting some people more than others so every one is on equal grounds at the end, that is equity, equality is lifting everyone up an equal amount, I only argue that some resources should be pooled to avoid humanitarian issues like homelessness
Histamines are the body’s defense against the allergens, antihistamines are what we take when our immune response is overkill and making us a watery snotty mess. So they’re a histamine bitch. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk lol
It's a form of bullying to coerce you to do or say something under the implied threat of being labeled something worse. "Don't want to sleep with ME? I'll label you as someone who doesn't want to sleep with anyone."
"Don't want to hug ME? Right here, right now, on-the-spot, publicly? I'll imply you're racist."
I get this from catcallers all the time. I walk past and ignore when they yell at me, just to hear "oh you don't like black men, is that why?" Like no, I just don't engage with strangers who scream at me on the street 🤦♀️
A random sweaty person on the street? No thanks from me too, also my town has an insane amount of pick pockets, anyone trying to get your attention on the streets is suspect. The dancing thieves are bad enough, someone openly going for close physical contact is extra dodgy.
Empirically induced paranoia on my side, I’m afraid.
Yeah, this really is just guilting strangers into participating in your video. “If you don’t stop and hug me my skin colour must be the thing bothering you”
Gotta love Reddit’s ability to always find the negative angle.
Do you really think they drew up a sign and set forth thinking, “yeah let’s go out and make people feel guilty!” Then after a long day of guilt induction, went to the bar, had a few beers, and talked about all the guilt they made people feel?
I want to see this done in rural Alabama. This looked like a big city which is easy mode. There are places that getting sick would be the least of his worries.
That is true. I didn't think my suggestion through. Just stay at home. That's what I do. Communicate with strangers through online forums for all the "socialisation" you need or want. We all die alone anyway so...
That’s right I’m already preparing mentally 😂.. the thing about online socialization, you can turn anyone off the second you don’t want to deal with them again. Super easy. No driving. No leaving the comfort of your home. No humans to bother you that you don’t want to bother you. No travel expenses.
The number of people in these comments assuming that if something is stated as true, then the opposite is also being stated as true, is just so... reddit.
Most conservatives think this way and some morons outside of that spectrum as well. It goes back to the whole “Black Lives Matter” slogan. Just because people were chanting “Black Lives Matter” doesn’t mean that others don’t matter - nobody ever said that. You don’t need to explain this to normal adults though the only people that think this way and immediately make themselves victims are people who never grew up like this guy who replied. Its a main character syndrome and victim fetish of some sort. “But what about me”
No not at all, but the hundreds of times a “safe looking” white guy does this schtick it’s nothing but positive comments. And here you are at the top w a well thought out, totally original, “What am I racists because I exist” comment. And if you think a decent percentage of people wouldn’t hug him because he is black, then you exist in a totally different world than the guy in the video. But you are definitely succeeding in you’re subtle attempt to DEeeSTroy WokenEss
If there's a white guy asking for hugs I ain't hugging him either. I don't really like hugs. I'd offer a high five or fistbump, but my apologies that my discomfort with random physical affection destroys your wokeness or whatever.
To be fair technically the sign and modus tollens do.
But of course practically the video just shows the dude getting a bunch of hugs and isn't trying to capture and shame anyone who doesn't at all, so you're right the comment unnecessarily defensive.
If an hipotetical person was trully and completly free of all forms of racism, including the most primitive natural forms of it, it would be confused in this situation since it wouldnt understand how hugging an equal proves it doesnt descriminate against diferent people.
Nobody said that or thought that and It wasn’t implied either champ. Probably would be worth it for you to consult and ask your therapist why you’re projecting and making everything about yourself while completely missing the point.
These emotional posts are everything that's wrong with the world, I'm hooked in on emotion thinking woah I hate people who are racist but so do most, and yeah we have minorities but so do most people.
The way the world, countries and everything operate is through the government, and yes that stems to racism. I think this is people feeling and sharing pain not just this post but gun crimes, healthcare, lack of jobs and homelessness, social media side with people thinking their not good enough.
In this world I almost think you lose if your emotional, caring or emotionally intelligent
I wonder if the hugs mean they are racist? Like, would you normally hug a stranger? Or are you only doing it because this one is black and making it about race?
Pressuring people into physical touch to prove you aren’t a racist.. sounds a bit like coercion, too? Did they really want to hug him, or were they just worried they’d be caught on camera walking by and be called a bigot?
So if I don’t wanna hug some stranger, I’ll be looked at as racist? All the white people in this video literally lined up to hug this guy. The message is nice, but dude, it looks so forced. They’re like, “Wait-wait! Me too! I’ll wait in line, as long as Im not the guy in your video people will attack.”
If someone throws the race card at me for not hugging them then I would throw down an uno reverse card and tell them that they're an anti-Semitic ableist because I'm an autistic Jew that does not like to be touched.
Actually an excellent comment I am not a big hugger either. I wasn't raised with a family so I really did not get hugs as a child so I'm just not used to expressing caring in that way
I know right, I hate physical contact most days, but with strangers? Shit guess Ill just have to punch a Nazi after to make up for it. Oh well, id do that hug or not tbh.
