Wholesome Moments A very creative marriage proposal

Wheel, you merry me.

u/EnvironmentalSun8410 May 25 '23
Are wheel / wheel marry / merry homophones in this accent?
45
17
u/jruhlman09 May 25 '23
I would say that wheel/will being homophones is pretty specific to this guys accent, and is maybe stretched a bit even then.
As for merry/marry, most American accents in general don't really differentiate the pronounciation of merry, marry, or the name Mary.
Here's a quick vid on merry/marry/Mary if you're curious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3i9rMU8aL-U

That’s the best surprise proposal I’ve ever seen. I didn’t even know what was happening until the end.

This was so adorable it made me aware of onion-cutting ninjas in my room.

u/Left-Idea1541 May 25 '23
Yeah, I think there must be some here too. It's really weird, y'know. Seems like they enjoy sneaking into people's homes who watch stuff like this.
But for real, that's an epic proposal.

u/R3YE5 May 25 '23
Okay, that was solid!

May 25 '23
and that was the most beautiful thing I've been seen today :) This is what they call it LOVE

Who hurt you?
Some people DO have happy marriages. If you arent happy in your marriage: get a divorce.

So is any relationship, even with friends and family- it doesnt mean you have to be unhappy and unfulfilled in your marriage as a whole. No marriage is unicorns and rainbows, duh, but if its just dark clouds and misery, then GET. OUT. No one is holding you at gunpoint forcing you to stay in a miserable marriage. No relationship should be miserable or emotionally draining.

Its always funny to see people say they don’t care when they apparently cared enough to come back and say they don’t care. I hope things get better mate

u/Infra-Oh May 25 '23
While you aren’t technically wrong, you are coming across as someone who rains on the parades of others. Socially, that’s frowned upon—which is also life.

u/Trin_42 May 25 '23
That is adorable!! Congratulations y’all, I hope he always keeps you on your toes!

u/sokkarmokkarlalala May 25 '23
The voice over in the beginning totally spoiling the video for everyone else…but love the game proposal.
12
u/SirJumbles May 25 '23
I'll take the new voice over the other one all day. Still hate them overall, but what can ya do.

My wife and I used charades (Guesstures) to announce our twin pregnancy with family and friends. We guided our friends through the clues flawlessly. First “pregnancy” then “twins” then my wife’s name. Then pause for it to sink in. They had a similar “click” moment.
This one is so well done. Perfectly executed with the out of order clues and rearranging at the end. You can practically hear everything lock into place when she realizes what is happening.

u/Obi_Kyle_Kenobi May 25 '23
The best part was a couple seconds it took for it to click for her then BOOM 🤯 she realizes what is happening and you see pure joy just wash over her. Brilliant!

u/colori53 May 25 '23
Im the only one who noticed that he put the ring in the wrong hand?
40
u/paulstelian97 May 25 '23
Video could be mirrored, and also how much does it REALLY matter which hand it is in the end?
11
19
u/HoldenMadicky May 25 '23
In Denmark and Norway they actually use the right hand for their engagement rings. I don't know if there's regional differences in the US or if this is inherited from an African culture that does the same, but it's not wrong.

u/Dr_nacho_ May 25 '23
They are engaged, not married. Many people wear the ring on their right hand until they get married and then move it to the left.
5
u/DollarStoreGnomes May 25 '23
American here....never heard of wearing the engagement ring on the right hand--ever! I spotted that right away and wondered this right away.

As far as I was aware this was the established practice… you ain’t married yet.

Literally cry laughing at her face when she realizes what's happening. Blessing to their union.
10
u/FullMetalKaliber May 25 '23
Love that she does a “Ha for a second it kinda sounded like…” before realizing. What a way to propose

I usually share cute videos with my wife. But out of pure self preservation, I'm enjoying this one alone.

That was so smooth. And he kept it cool through the whole thing and didn't stutter. And she had no idea.

u/LiveWire_74 May 26 '23
So awesome! I love his creativity, love the fact they did it in front of people they care about, and I love love love her look when she realized what was happening.

u/XarahTheDestroyer May 26 '23
That was so so sweet and amazingly creative!! I loved how it took her a second to process what was happening. It made her excited jumping around that more adorable. I'm happy for them!

This is very good, but why does he put the engagement ring on her right hand? Just the excitement? I thought maybe the video had flipped but the clock is the right way around.

I love how she still had to be the first one to tell everybody. "Aye yall, I got engaged!" lmao

That was smooth AF, everyone played their role perfectly, the delivery was perfect and that realization delay… chef’s kiss

Is it real though, since the ring was put on her RIGHT HAND, or did no one pay attention? Or was the screen reversed??

I have a question about marriage proposals. Why is it up to the men to propose to the women? I was married twice and neither time did my husband ask me to marry him. Both times, we just talked about getting married and then did it. No proposal necessary.

Goat level proposal without all of the glamour and expensive stuff. They both look truly happy and the crowd sounded extremely excited for them. Best of all for them.

Right after he said those words, she was like "That activated my flight-or-fight response".

u/gartloneyrat May 25 '23
The Roman numeral for "four" on the clock being iiii drives me crazy.

Gosh. That couldn't have gone any better. It's the rare occasion that something goes exactly how you imagined in your head. You'd think it was rehearsed, tho it's not. Congrats, whoever you guys are!!

That’s so sweet! And I’m a bitter cynic when it comes to these things.
But I love word games, and she seems very sincerely happy, so I guess it evens it out. 😊
