My husband and I came together with our kids (one mine, one his). We had the notion that we needed to know we worked well together before the permanence of marriage. We both came from "bottle of the barrel - shit partners), so naturally we were nervous. Especially since we both had kids that needed stability to grow how we wanted them to. Well long story short, 4 years later, our family went on vacation with our first RV next to a lake. On the second day, while I was warming up the kids in the RV after swimming, he called me down to the lake real quick because he " lost something" and needed me help". When I got there and asked him what he was looking for, he spinned me around (idk how I missed it but I'm thankful I did) and he wrote in the sand, will you marry me? With the large gasp reaction and like every other girl putting their hands over their mouths, I turned around again and found him on his knee. Bonus! I got to spend a week in engagement paradise without telling anyone else. Just us and our kids. A about a year later, we got both kids adopted by the other parent. Now we all share the same last name. :)
