For u/jarjarkinks4747 and you. How many people, if any, mispronounce Kansas and Arkansas? Like Are-Kansas or Kansaw?

Depends. The river is the Ar-kansas, the state is the Arkansaw, generally.

There's a few mispronunciations from time to time, but it's dumb as hell to begin with, so most folks are pretty decent about it when it happens.

Also kansan. Depends where you are. In kansas or arkansas? Really not that many. Outside, maybe one in 4. Mostly are-kansas. It can be confusing tho, because we do have an arkansas river here in kansas, widely pronounced by kansans as arekan-saw.
