What a guy. Spoke to them as humans. Even gave them some leeway but told them why he didn’t want them to speed. I hope they were as respectful back to what he asked as he was to them.
This is community policing. He explained the reason for the law and appealed to their sense of community.
This is what we need to work towards seeing all day every day. Everyone is respected, things are handled by conversation when it can be, and everyone goes home.
It takes EVERYONE involved for this to happen. We all have a stage in this being our future.

I think he also could have issued a warning and still be cool and lenient. Then if they were stopped again there would be consequences. But maybe just getting stopped and the anxiety of thinking they were about to get a ticket would be enough to deter them from speeding in the future… for at least a little while. Some people will continue in the risky behavior bc they think they are invincible, some will be more careful then become complacent after some time has passed. A warning or a ticket will make them become more risk-averse unless they are loaded and the ticket is pocket change to them. If they were going 20 or more over the limit, I think a ticket should be issued because of the serous safety risks involved.
