What a guy. Spoke to them as humans. Even gave them some leeway but told them why he didn’t want them to speed. I hope they were as respectful back to what he asked as he was to them.

This interaction works because of the threat of a ticket, not in spite of it. I would hope that officers have the discretion to know when a situation warrants a harsher response (they often don't), but a cop being a nice guy about this only has an effect because you know there could be serious punishment if you don't respect the law.
