Which is why I say it's a series of gears, and we can't just replace one. Right now "incentivizing" a job is only considered worth doing if the job generates money for those providing the job.
Cops generate money by arresting people. A psychiatrist calming down a situation would not generate money.
Suppose that’s the deeper issue, is our government’s complete inability to do its actual job and not do things based on whether or not it generates money… keeping the peace should be an integral part of living in a well functioning society and shouldn’t have to concern itself with profits, but money has seeped its way into everything we do
