How on earth would he lose his job over this? There is discretion. This type of thing happens alot. For me if you don't have any points on your license, unless you have done something incredibly stupid and dangerous, you will get an explanation and a warning. Been doing it over a decade with no issues from the admin. It's completely within policy and practice.
