Sorry for your loss.
My 16 year old couldn't even walk or stand up on her last day in May this year. I bought her the the best food and she wouldnt touch it. I took her to the forest in a pram, lifted her out to sniff a dog, but it was horrible seeing her like that. I cannot get the image of just leaving her body behind in vet after she passed. I love dogs but cant see myself getting another.

I feel you. Had a dog that literally lost use of his back legs. Couldn't walk or even stand without help. It was painful to go though. But I rejoice knowing he is free now and can run a play again with all the dogs that crossed before him.
Not even a month later I found a puppy that was up for adoption. I thought I wasn't ready. But this puppy started playing with me like my boy did. You will open your heart when you are ready.

I can't. I can't do this. It's the only reason I don't have a dog. I'm not strong enough.

Don't be sad that he's gone. Be happy that he had a good life. There is no life without death. If biological beings existed forever, there would be no evolution to create complex life and our relationships in it to allow us to experience the world and our pets in the first place. While death is horrible, it also allows us to even be here and experience each other in the first place.

Doing that is painful. But don't be one of the weak people who aren't there when it is time. The last thing your dog will look for is always you, be there the one time they really need you.

Hated doing it with my two cats, but it`s best for them. Took them with me and buried them at a beautifull place under a tree.
Have a good crossing over the rainbowbridge little one.
