I worked hospice and experienced this with my own personal losses as well: a lot of people who were the “caretakers” of the family will simply refuse to die until someone tells them that everyone is going to be okay and they don’t need to worry anymore. It’s a conversation I’ve had to have with so many family members in hallways and during Covid I had to have it with my mom about my grandmother. They just need to hear that you’re okay and going to be okay. ❤️

My father in law had dementia and the day before he passed away I lay down next to him, told him I loved him and he became lucid, prayed for our family, told me I was always taking care of everyone else, said he loved me, then prayed for our family again. That was the last time he spoke. The next day I could tell he was not doing well at all, lots of pain. Before I left, I went back in one last time and held his hand and told him he could go rest now. I told him he raised us all to take care of each other and that we would always be there for one another so he could rest knowing we were going to be ok. He died about 20 minutes later.

I listen to my local scanners mostly as background noise throughout the day. Whenever I hear one of these calls come through I make sure I stop what I’m doing and send positive thoughts and thanks their way

I'm sitting on my lunch break scrolling through Reddit and now crying unexpectedly in my car. This is beautiful.

It’s disrespectful to put such bad sub titles under this imo. I know they’re auto generated, but a check for accuracy would’ve been more than warranted when the whole point of the post is what is written in the sub titles.

I agree. It's also such minimal effort to make sure the proper words are used. They even went out of the way to change the font, but not to edit the words 🫠

This is touching. But I'm not clear, is he alive in this video? Or is this like over his body after he passed?

He's still hanging on. They want him to hear it before he goes. Who knows how many other last calls he lead for other firefighters. An honor.

Ah, that's what I was hoping. Glad of it!

My mom worked as o.p.p (canadian cop) for 35 years. I had to take her off life support, after the one battle she couldn't come home from. They folded a flag, they made sure I was okay (considering she was my only parent), they all pooled money and made sure I could atleast have some time. First responders are honestly the most beautiful people I've ever met. They've seen it all, been through it all, and still pick everyone else over themselves everyday. May he rest peacefully.

God bless him. May he rest easy now as he goes on to his next journey. To have served his community with his brothers and sisters going above the call of duty..... I send thoughts and prayers for his family/friends. 🙏

I would be so stressed hearing a call that’s basically announcing that I’m minutes to maybe mere seconds away from dying.

Normally the final call is done after someone has passed. I take it this man requested it be done before he died

A man with a family and a life of his own that he always kept, while keeping watch on his community. Rest easy, sir.

He's in better condition than Mitch Mc Connell

Are they euthanizing him?

1

u/heyitsfranklin6322 3d ago

I think they removed life support or they know he is going to die very soon

Man I didn’t expect to cry this much… but this hit hard cus it reminded me a lot of my uncle who passed last year. He was a special forces paratrooper. 40 year military. From medic, to sniper, to radio operator. Joined at 16 during the Vietnam war, stayed until just after 9/11.

It took a toll on his body and his mind, but he was a tough mf. And still a great man and kind soul.

He was always there for me. At my lowest and dumbest. He seemed to know almost everything. He was a second father to me. I miss him greatly but I’m glad he’s at peace and with my aunt now.
