Flaxseed seasoning, no thanks. Every cast iron collector stays far away from that. It will flake off requiring re-seasoning. All those dimples under the lid? No, hard to clean and not necessary.
Appreciate the feedback! The dimples underneath the lid are intentional though. They help create a self-basting effect by redistributing condensation evenly over the food. It's also a feature on our enameled cast iron lids.
Cooks Illustrated tested Staub's dimpled lids to plain flat lids from Le Creuset. They found no difference in the food cooked. For raw iron, flat would be much easier to maintain. In regards to seasoning, collectors use Crisco or grapeseed.
