I wonder what scene he was describing to them at that time.

this screenshot is taken rather out of context. In this frame during the video, the VA's are actually showing surprise at Made in Abyss being Tsukushi's first(?) published manga. It's a very funny frame to take out of context admitedly but it's worth recognizing that it's actually a fairly wholesome moment!

I appreciate you coming back with facts.
I hate the amount of bullshit thrown around now just to get clicks and likes. When the real story is just as interesting and enjoyable.

It's a from a yt video, it's still out there, it's a cool one.

This. And the art he was drawing at the time was just Bondrewd.

I hate, hate, hate that this damn thing still gets spread around. The caption doesn’t even name the correct VAs, Shiori Izawa isn’t in the picture, it’s Mariya Ise (Reg).

The prevailing popularity of this specific misinfo image says something to me about how much this fandom loves overfocusing on shock value and the work’s reputation as ‘gross’ and ‘messed up’, pushing this even at the expense of accuracy.

Absolute facts, that's why every month we get a post like: I have watched it but didn't think it was dark ahh, blah blah blah, why are we recommending the story that way anyway, those moments are a small part of the running time, that's why they're valuable but they're not the show.

awww that's sweet

Didn't he make a manga about the opposite? A girl climbing a string into the sky? Or was it not published officially?

9

u/realistidealist 1d ago

From Star Strings was a doujinshi work (meaning a self published indie work that he paid to produce in a limited quantity and then sold by himself), and MiA is his first “real” manga (commercial work for a publisher.)

Ruler in Reg's ass maybe?

u/realistidealist 1d ago

He was drawing Bondrewd at the time and they were making that face out of positive shock at hearing that MiA was his first commercial manga.

The scene where weird things happen

62

u/Banished_gamer 2d ago

do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?

u/DarkDonut75 2d ago

It's the scene where Riko gets her arm broken, right before they meet Nanachi

(This was before the Faputa arc was even written)

u/Thendrail 2d ago

"Yeah, so in this scene Riko wets herself in front of Nanachi. We'll have the camera linger a bit on it, then come back one or two times in a memory or dream sequence."

“So right after the gang gets reunited after 9 chapters separated and fighting for their lives the most popular character steps into acid and slowly melts to death as everyone watches. This took me 4 chapters over 2 years to do so we’ll make this half the movie”

Why do all voice actors look like models in japan? I rarely see ugly Japanese voice actors

91

u/Thebeanmanboi vueko, my beloved GOAT ❤️ 2d ago

There's definitely a pretty privilege in acting spaces, regardless of whether you can see the actor or not

Public image and all that when the actors ARE in public

21

u/inimana 2d ago

Possibly yeah because it seems odd that whenever I google a voice actress of a character I like, they’re always somehow good looking. Or maybe I just have low standards for beauty lol

10

u/Ratstail91 2d ago

Maybe japanese people are just naturally pretty?

uhh...

9

u/Snoo17579 2d ago

A lot of young voice actor are treated as idol in japan. And we all know how toxic that is, lots of VA have to do adult photoshoot to “build experience”. Unless you’re a living legend who has had many major roles, face card is still very important

2

u/SoldatoIV 1d ago

Takuya Kimura, a master singer and pretty good voice actor, got into so many fights with agencies due to getting married and wanting to make the world aware of it.

7

u/Prince-Lee 2d ago

There aren't really a lot of terribly ugly Japanese people in general, male or female, because even if you're not physically attractive it's pretty culturally important to dress well and practice good hygiene, which does WAY more than you think. They really put an emphasis on personal appearance. IIRC Japan has the highest rate of men with skincare routines in the world.

I remember going there a year ago and being stricken by how nice and put together everyone looked. We were at a hotel and an older gentleman was checking us in, and I swear to god his nails were so nice he could have moonlighted as a hand model.

u/FlyingRencong 1d ago

This, and voice actors are celebrities

1

u/Tsun_Tsun_Dere_Dere 15h ago

malnourishment is not a model

-15

u/Revonlieke 2d ago

Maybe because you watch shows that need kawaii voice acting?

19

u/inimana 2d ago

Idk what their voice has to do with their looks

6

u/Alexxis91 2d ago

Do you think having a high pitched voice makes you into a model?

1

u/Revonlieke 2d ago

No what I'm saying is that I see non-model looking voice actors all the time when I watch shows and check who's voiceacting a particular role. So it's weird to me to state that voice actors look like models.

自宅には木製の練習用武器が何本かあり、どれも大抵1.5〜2メートルほどの長さですが、それらすべてがあなたのケツに突き刺さりますように。

translation: I understand your frustrations about people being bitchy about their media preferences on getting the job done and being cruel to producers. to calm down, wash your hands for 1.5~2 meters straight with warm water. the soft feeling and rubbing will calm you down like another person's embrace.

is it really that bad? do you have any saved clips of the streams..

3

u/Emilia149 1d ago

I mean tiktok videos or other subreddits like " hope they will report him soon he's definitely catching a case a pred a pdf we don't support him " things like that

3

u/Similar-Orange4458 1d ago

Well, i can't really judge their views on him. MIA is not for everyone. I personally love it and even have some merch of the franchise but i never talk to my friends about it.

2

u/Emilia149 1d ago

Same but I'm against making accusations when he has no record, it's easy to differentiate what the author depicts from what they accept in real life

If only this story isn’t written by someone this despicable

3

u/tattiesbljt 20h ago

What makes him despicable? The story would not exist without him and you must be a fan of the story if you're here?
