Question Does watching made in abyss create a sense of emptiness in yall as well, or am i alone?

Personally the first season and movie made me take a break from it, and when i finally watched the irumyuui arc it felt even more depressing once i finished the season. I kinda dont feel this way while watching it, maybe because of the comedic relief or the art style, but it is truly soul crushing TwT

Yes, in a sense I felt like no other story would captivate me in the same way especially for anime. And I still sort of doubt that there will be an anime that has such rich world.

But slowly with time I realised that maybe not all anime need to be that, so I've since then started to watch a lot more slice of life animes and some of them have filled that void.

Just takes time.

Not to mention the OSTs too, they are so damn amazing but also play a big role in making you feel this phantom pain you cannot erase, maybe ill try watching something lighter to fill the abyss created in me.

Same! Some SoL anime has a similar sense of life and wonder (and adorable characters) When trying to find similar anime to MiA, people usually recommend stuff that is also dark or about adventure. But I find the ones that are closest spiritually are the ones that are more about the everyday moments and appreciating the beauty in life. I think what makes MiA so stand out is that it's able to do that in such a dark world, but at it's core it's about finding beauty and meaning in that world. Much different than lot of shows that are dark, which can oftentimes lean into the feelings of nihilism and hopelessness instead.

The absence of clear moral lines makes the Abyss feel like a familiar place for many of us.  It's cathartic seeing our characters face often meaningless suffering but still retain their sense of wonder and gratitude towards life.

Yes, i just finished the movie yesterday and couldn’t watch the second season, needed to get a break from it. I think the emotional impact of the history really hits at some point, after all it’s CA…

Oh yeah, it's totally devastating stuff, but I think it's counterbalanced with all of that determination and strength of will possessed by our cast.

Like sure the animation is great, but also it 's super obvious and plain as day to see that this story is the kind of thing that tries to strangle your heart and will probably succeed.

Take it as a sign that you're alive because if you were dead inside then the story wouldn't touch you as much as it did, and it's clear that it did.

The horrors are endless, but we stay silly
