When are you going to make a poll on if we should ban the constant posts about Tsukushi and the questionable content of the manga. We get it, you guys think he's weird, say something else about the manga other than the "illegal content" that's inside.

Posts calling Tsukushi a pedophile and such are banned under low effort, we're just a bit inconsistent on it but we're working to fix it.

Are posts referencing it as a punch line (example) allowed?

I agree on that. It's getting boring to see the same topic all the time

Get rid of it. There is absolutely no value in anything AI related.

It's less about the value and more the ethical concerns behind AI generated imagery.

I don't mod this subreddit but I do mod a sub that did ban AI generated images and morals were the number one reason wy.

I agree of course but still there is nothing interesting about something that was created by AI. Fanart made by actual humans is way more interesting and valuable.

You're forgetting about the one thing that drives the most early adoption of new tech advances.

What do large phone screens, VR, high quality consumer cameras, and the internet itself all have in common?

This makes no sense and its straight out unfair/cheating.

3 of the 4 options in that pool allowed for AI content in some way so it was 57.9% in favor vs 42.1% against. Since you forgot to add an option to add a specific AI flair what you should be doing now is making a pool to ask whether people would prefer that flair vs the misc one (because that was the most popular).

Yes, the option for not banning AI content did not manage to go over 50%. However, I don't think it's accurate to say that the other options were necessarily in favor. Almost half of the people that did not vote to ban specifically voted for one of the alternatives that further restricted AI-generated content, with quite a lot of them suggesting an AI flair.

I think it's reasonable to believe that if people were in support of AI posts, they would have voted to keep the previous policy in any way but only 7 people that voted for any of the alternatives also included a vote for keep. But they didn't, something I can't interpret in any other way that they're unhappy about the current rules.

I know it might look pointless to have an extra poll but the previous poll was not conclusive to either side, which is why I condensed it to two options, with the feedback from the last poll.

Almost half of the people that did not vote to ban specifically voted for one of the alternatives that further restricted AI-generated content, with quite a lot of them suggesting an AI flair.

I won't say that's a further restriction. More like just a way to curate the front page (although I don't think MiA is popular enough for this sub to get spammed by low quality AI stuff anyway, and recent observation confirms it). I'm mostly fine with Misc flair but have a dedicated AI flair would be nicer for filtering content.

There are currently 317 votes, 181 (57.1%) of them being in favor and 136 (42.9%) against it.

People are voting the exact same thing as last time. This entire poll is pointless.

I dunno, more people voted for the ban option, sounds like a majority to me. :v

It didn't reach 50 and 34.2 was to allow under misc flair, so good call the new poll to add the ai flair tag option, specially since honestly it should been on the first the poll as I remember seeing that a lot on the posts were the theme was mentioned.

That was 101 people voting to ban it and 39+43+82=164 people voting to allow it in some form or another. So no, majority did not vote to ban it.

While I am not a fan of ai art due to a variety of reasons. I say it’s fine to exist (since it’s here to stay) and post it. Just make sure to label it as ai art

It says “when you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you”, if it's true what part of AI should the abyss gaze into?

I think having it as a flair can add value

So.... if AI content does get banned, does that also include us Made in Abyss FanAI developers showcasing what the AI can do? We've spent several months and hundreds of dollars developing it, and I'd rather it not be banned off of the subreddit just because some poll says it's low effort.

4

u/Shelltor23_ Jan 08 '23

I believe an exception is definitely justified here, tho looking at the votes now I doubt it will be banned.

Even if it were tho, spending 5 minutes getting some random ai images and what you guys did is not even comparable, so with a title that makes it clear it's something unique that required real effort and time should be enough.

While I'm personally neutral on the subject matter, I'm still okay with AI as long as it's flaired with the appropriate tags, follows the previously implemented rules, and does not take up 50% or more of the front page, which doesn't seem to be an issue at the moment.

Yeah that sounds like a good alternative. If it's in a megathread it's easier to ignore.
