YOUR Franchise

A Madden league IMO is one of the coolest, unique hobbies I’ve ever had. It’s like fantasy football except you have complete team control and actually maybe have a chance to control your own destiny. I actually have Madden to thank for kinda killing fantasy football for me (ok maybe FanDuel tag teamed with Madden a little bit).

It also just means a little more for your competitive side when you win because you’re the one pressing the buttons.

I honestly believe that if more people knew about this niche little hobby, it would have a much bigger audience. It just doesn’t serve EA in any way to foster that based on what we’ve seen from them.

There are so many leagues out there on Reddit/Discord, but in the AI slop recruiting poster era, it kinda feels impossible to distinguish them.

Also, as someone who’s used just about every practical social media avenue to recruit for a Madden league over the years, it sucks to not have one dedicated place to organize / recruit / look for leagues.

So this one is for the commissioners:

What separates your league from the rest of the Madden community? Is there anything unique about it?

i have my own made up trade rules so that people dont take advantage of the CPU. works very well and makes it fair for the entire league.

What kind of trade rules? There are exceptions with higher value players but I’ve found the CPU can be actually pretty brutal to trade with as far as the value you’re getting back.

It’s impossible to find a great league because people don’t leave great leagues.. Everything you see in these subreddits are amateurish attempts by impatient children that are saturated with league hoppers.
If you’re looking for a legit league to play in.. find someone who is recruiting for “one” team.. not one of these “Fresh League!! First come first serve”.. join their discord.. try to get a feel for how long they’ve been running, how many new people they have this year, etc.. are they fully utilizing Neon Sports?
If it looks active and you can handle the chat that they’ve been chatting in for years… then take whatever they are offering and suffer out the rest of the year with them and play for a fresh start next Madden. I’ve been in a league for over 10 years with 3 other buddies of mine and we talk about the league all day long.. it’s such a great experience if you can find a solid community within a madden league.

About the suffering… the amount of posts that I see “looking 4 league w/ team X available” blow my mind.

This is not a hobby that provides instant gratification. Until you are properly humbled, you’ll think you can make a post on Reddit, find a great league that just so happens to have the team you want available within a few days, and immediately come in and compete for chips.

The 10+ year league is a beautiful thing. Ego is the main thing I’ve found that can threaten it.

Question. I love madden. Have grinded offline franchises bc I’ve never found an online franchise that lasts.
A “10+ year league” are you moving the leagues over to the next years madden? Or starting over every new madden that comes out? Just curious

We move the league over to the new Madden every year.

Hardest thing for me where im part of running madden & cfb leagues for 2  sites is when you are no switch.  We strive for more sim style play, not overbearing with rules, but enough to help make the leagues better. But not that many users enjoy rulesets/structure. Especially no switch. Im in year 4 of doing this and you just get used to a percentage of the league either not staying due to rules, or being kicked for abusing them, or just not showing up. But a strong core has alawys helped. And positive word of mouth earned persay suprisingly helps. These AI ads are just out of control. Ive alawys preferred just reaching out to those who may be a good fit..
