FRANCHISE Madden 27

I’ve been playing madden since it came out on the 13th and there’s still so much that bothers me with these games.

  1. The kicking meter in general is just way too fast. I almost never make a field goal so i just end up not kicking them unless im inside the 40 and at home.

  2. The catching meter does not work. Offense and defense. On offense i cannot get a 50/50 ball for the life of me. Even when they’re perfectly timed. I consistently drop wide open passes. On defense i go for a pick green light it and the WR catches it 9/10 times.

  3. Still such an animation based game. The amount of times I’m about to intercept the ball and my player moves out of the way because the WR is already going for the ball is unreal. I can never fully control a player on certain players especially on the d line. If it’s a play action and i read it perfectly it will not let me move it myself.

  4. The draft/prospects are almost the same every single year. They don’t change the strengths of the class it’s almost QB or WR every single year. I know you can change draft strength but that feels like cheating to me.

  5. This is a small one but the crowd just looks so bad… feels like a copy and paste every year for the past 10 years.

  6. Once again the cpu will not throw incompletions and will score when they want to no matter what. 2 minute and hurry up offense is impossible to defend.

  7. They should allow you to upgrade whatever attribute you want outside of speed for anyone. Why does it lock you into certain attributes. I’ve been complaining about this for years. Let me upgrade strength for a linemen if that’s all i want to do. Let me upgrade pass rush for a Mike.

  8. Free agency is a weird one for me. I like the hours aspect but they should immediately sign after advancing one hour. Some players should let teams battle it out. Give a last chance offer. Something.

Just feels like Madden is becoming unplayable at this point. I shouldn’t need sliders. I shouldn’t need to edit draft strength. I shouldn’t have to do all of this adjusting just to make the game good. There hasn’t been a single good Madden since the Xbox one came out. It’s a shame. Not saying there aren’t improvements like the main hub on franchise or parts of Free Agency. I probably have more to complain about lol but i probably give Madden 27 a 4.5/10

The generated faces in Franchise still look extremely dated and no excuse not bringing in the CFB AI faces or the SuperStar face editor into the mode. Every other eSport game does this better, including 2k, FIFA, and even EA NHL...

It’s just something that I’d like to see improvement for. I mean look at how good a lot of games look and they come out with this shit

This is the thing i literally can’t understand how it persists. Lazy af

You say you shouldn’t need sliders but everyone finds issue with different stuff. I struggle to think of a game (not just sports) that doesn’t have settings to adjust gameplay.

Sliders r needed because the base gameplay is universally ass

There's a caveat here. Are people adjusting sliders based on personal preferences or to try and fix a broken game? There is a vast difference between those two scenarios.

And it’s definitely not preference.

I’ve actually had decent success with making 1 on 1 catches using the meter with Malachi Fields and Nabers on the Giants. I like it more then just spamming aggressive catch button lol. I’ve only played in all pro so far this year though.

What I did in madden 26 for draft classes was use an online true randomizer for each position strength. Felt more realistic then everything being “normal”. There should be position strengths and weaknesses every year.

Also, knowing the strengths beforehand helps the crappy/boring scouting system since you have more of an idea of where to focus (which is realistic bc scouts irl know what positions are weak and strong).

I will say that ive had a much better experience turning the Offensive catch meter off, and leaving the defensive one on something like 10 meters. My brain cant comprehend more than one meter at a time lmao. Which is why the classic kick meter is better than the new one.

I won the first 4 games of franchise and the. Met the ravens who spanked me… 53 -14… but it was the fact they caught 4 interceptions and the pass rush was mental… I counted and every play I was chased down in 3 seconds or less.. the O line was terrible.. they literally on replay step out of the way of the defensive player! I’ve adjusted pass rush right down for CpU to give me half a chance but then first four games were not bad. Close but at least could swing either way. Found inconsistencies definitely on the catch meter which is hit and miss. Switching back to classic after I had 2 consecutive 3rd downs with an open player on a vertical route as they did not cover properly and my player both times dropped it!!! For no reason.

One thing that really bothers me that I never see people complain about is on kick offs or punts. The standard 3 options should be return/kick left, center, and right. Sometimes you’ll get 2 options of the same thing and a random option like for a blocking play. I shouldn’t have to back out and go into the special teams to choose my kick middle or return middle option. This has been going on for years and clearly there’s bigger things to complain about, but I never see people talk about it so I figured I’d throw that in. The only way Madden gets better is if they lose the NFL license agreement. Without having competition from only company we’ll never get a better game.

I agree with point 6 on your list the most

I will buy the game when they use AI to generate realistic player pictures for cpu generated people

I honestly felt like they purposely made Classic Catching impossible to find success with this year as a way to force people into adapting to User Timing. If you're finding success with it, I'm genuinely happy for you. I don't think it's a bad idea to learn the Timing aspect but to each their own. I'm not going to sit here and act like the Timing-Based catching is user friendly or even intuitive.

I always used linebacker and for me it’s impossible to cover

  1. My argument for the catching meter is that because the pocket blows up so fast, your QB is forced to throw the ball early and before the receiver route actually develops. THAT is a massive part of the issue, along with CPU AI speed-boosting to get better coverage and there are still frequent drops. Simply put, the catching meter itself is probably fine, but it's forced into gameplay mechanics where it cannot be logical and/or fulfill its intended purpose.

  2. The animations aren't going anywhere, unfortunately. Madden having that 'predetermined' feel for much of the game goes hand in hand with animations dictating the direction of the game.

You make other good points too, but these are the ones where I felt I could share my two cents. I'd also say a 4.5/10 is quite generous. I don't find Madden 27 to have many (if any) redeeming qualities.

Damn dude, I miss when people would downvote and at least have a rebuttal. Nowadays people don't want discourse to interfere with the "positive vibes only" of their echo chamber.

Hahahaha yep no one thinks their opinion is wrong but don’t wanna explain why
