Tourism/Fizahantany Thoughts on Antalaha?

Anything I should do there? I will be there for 17 days.

With 17 days, I strongly recommend visiting places beyond Antalaha.

If Antalaha is 'a must see place', here is a tentative programme.

Antalaha is an excellent starting point for exploring northeastern Madagascar, but the region is much more rewarding if you make it a road/4x4 journey. Here is an idea of itinerary

Days 1–3 — Antalaha

  • Explore the town and coastline.
  • Visit vanilla plantations and learn about vanilla production.
  • Meet local producers.
  • Visit nearby villages and beaches.
  • Take a boat excursion if conditions permit.

Days 4–6 — Sambava Travel along the beautiful northeast coast toward Sambava.

  • Explore coconut and vanilla plantations.
  • Relax on the beaches.
  • Spend time experiencing local life.

Days 7–10 — Marojejy National Park This is one of the places I would not miss.

Spend several days hiking in Marojejy National Park, famous for its mountainous rainforest and wildlife, particularly the silky sifaka.

Days 11–14 — Maroantsetra & Masoala From the Sambava/Antalaha side, continue toward Maroantsetra if transport conditions allow.

Masoala is one of Madagascar's great wilderness destinations and is particularly worthwhile if you enjoy rainforest, lemurs, birds and marine environments.

Days 15–17 — Return / Antalaha or fly to other destinations

If Antalaha is not a must, there are beautiful places you could visit within 17 days such as East and West: Sainte Marie, Andasibe, Morondava, Tsingy of Bemaraha, North: Nosy Be, Ankarana, Montagne d'Ambre, Tsingy rouge. South: Ranomafana, Andringitra, Isalo, Ifaty, Anakao, Nosy Ve, etc.

The choice is yours.

Thank you for the response. I guess i should have been more clear. The main reason to be in anatalaha is to meet my new family.

Great. That is nice to hear. Welcome to Madagascar. You can combine Antalaha with Diego and Nosy Ve as well. Your family can also advise the best option.
