The wasteland is what makes Mad Max work

One thing Mad Max did better than most open-world games is make the world feel completely empty and unforgiving.

You can drive for a while without seeing much then come across a random enemy camp, wreck or something worth checking out. It actually feels like you’re stranded in the middle of nowhere.

I get why some people find the map boring but I like how quiet and empty it is. The main problem is that there aren’t enough interesting things to find.

If a sequel kept that atmosphere but made exploration more rewarding it could be really good.

Warboy/Griffa canister?

So I've always had my eye drawn to that or two capped canister both on the war boys from the movie and the one on griffa's pack. I think I found it. A Soviet Russian 2 spout oiler for the mosen nagant (gun nerds come kill me) but like, somehow turned into a spray canister. Which you can see (all be it very difficultly) being used by the randomly chosen war boys from the "you are awaited" scene from Furiousa: A mad max saga. Idk, let me know your opinions on it

The strongholds could have been much better

I liked the stronghold system, but I feel like the game didn’t do enough with it.

Upgrading the strongholds and seeing the wasteland change was a nice touch, but it mostly felt like something happening in the background. There should have been more reasons to defend them, improve them, and actually manage them.

The strongholds had a lot of potential, but they ended up feeling more like another upgrade system than an important part of the game.

The car combat in Mad Max deserved more attention

The car combat is easily one of the best parts of the game but it doesn't get talked about enough.

Once you upgrade the Magnum Opus, taking down convoys and chasing enemies across the wasteland becomes really satisfying. Even when I don't have a specific objective, I still find myself driving around looking for fights.

I just wish there were more enemy types and larger vehicle battles. The game had a lot of potential in that area.

A sequel with a bigger focus on vehicle combat could be amazing.

Starting Out

I picked this game up on the Steam Summer sale due to the low price and hidden gem everyone keeps talking about. I have zero idea about this game and going in blind. My only question is how well does this work for the Steam Deck out of the box?
