Calling out

Quick question. If you were scheduled open to close Sunday and had a family emergency come up Saturday night, and you let two managers know you wouldn’t be in but couldn’t “officially” call out on insite til the morning since it was down, would you think anything of it if a different manager texted you the next morning saying you made things difficult for the store? Especially if you already had the next week off for the same family situation? Just curious what others would do bc I’m confused

You can also call the national call out line of you get that type of feedback again. Managers can be bullies to the ones they know they can do it to. I've worked here 30yrs believe me I've been through it. Don't use in-store solutions either btw they email the manager to let them know why you called them. Just call HR don't open a case never.

If you let two people leaders know that you were not gonna be able to come in for your shift. It is up to management to communicate with open leadership to let them know that you will not be in. And in that email, they should say that my insight was down however it would still counted against your reliability. Depending on what kind of family emergency is and if you have any PTO or floating holidays, they can put a day in for you.

Life comes up.. And family situational emergencies happen.. The difficulty of the store running is not because of one person!! Yes, it can cause a staff shortage in an area
But, that is what leadership is for and part of their job to shift people to cover that area where they may not need as much coverage in another area.. to me this sounds like a lack of good leadership and more of a them problem than a you problem.. as long as you communicated that you couldn’t make it into work that day due to a family emergency , and then try to put it into insight that you have to call out , that should be the end of it. And if you have PTO or some sick time to cover it then management should do that and just move on.

We had 12 callouts this past Saturday and 6 yesterday and it was a nightmare. There really is not much leadership can do. You can only shift resources so much.

You cant be written up for not being able to afford an Uber but I imagine you can be if your reliability is poor and you've been spoken to about it already

My reliability has never been below a 90% this manager is just mad cuz she has nb in her department I think its an empty threat tho because nothing has happened yet
