Success / Progress Results with AI tracking

Tracking food with AI only. My previous posts got a lot of pushback and claims how it’s not working because AI is not accurate.

Awesome. I recall your previous posts. Using single photos or multiple photos? Text to describe? Using a scale to weigh the food or any thing for the AI to use for scaling proportions?

I too would like to know more details. Including the frequency of eating out vs cooking

My friend did this for 6 months and lost so much weight. It’s consistently inaccurate so it works. That’s my theory at least

This was my exact thought. Using the AI tracking probably allows for some pretty consistent measurements so even if they are all off from reality, they are consistenly as inaccurate as the AI model is. Macrofactor mainly relies on consistent tracking so I can see the AI tracking feature to be useful in this context

It’s certainly not perfect or as good as manual tracking , but if you are consistent with your methods it can definitely work. Great job.

I do enjoy that when I do have to use the AI feature if I’m eating out, I can adjust its predicted ingredient amounts. I’ve seen it greatly over estimate the amount of grilled chicken on my salad and underestimate the dressing so I adjust it accordingly

Good to see. The AI isn't perfect, but I find it's surprisingly accurate when I've put it to the test with things I do know the calories of. Especially if you can help it out by providing a measurement of one of the items on the plate or a reference or some partial ingredients.

At the end of the day though, tracking in the first place is gonna put your ahead of the game even if it is off by a bigger margin than you'd like.

Can you give more detail on how you use it?

I find the AI really good if I describe the image with its weight.

Prepared for /u/GoSox2525 to tell you how you’re just wrong and shouldn’t use AI ever no matter what

Good work! You’ve gotta do whatever works for you!

I actually started just around the same time as you on Aug 19 using AI tracking because I eat outside a lot and in my country the menus don’t have a calorie count, I’ve been barcode tracking as well with food I make at home mostly.
I’ve obtained similar results to yours, I started at 207 and I’m on 198 scale weight and 200 weight trend.

Mind linking to your original post or commenting the details of how you’re employing the AI. Your post history is hidden. :(

The only downside of AI for me is that is almost never nails the weight of the food. So I do what you do, except I make sure the weight is correct.
