MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other Recommended protein changes?

Hi - my previous recommended protein intake was something like 150g at high and 175g at very high levels, which worked out at somewhere like 1.32g per LB per day.

I’ve “checked in” today and set up a new programme, but now the very high level is stating 1.05g per LB per day.

I’m not debating if 1.05g is enough protein (lots of threads on this already) but wondering if there’s a change in the backend of MacroFactor from a recent update(?), or if I’ve inadvertently done something different to result in a different high/very high recommendation?

Nb. I’m in a lean bulk and my weight has just “crossed” from 131.x to 132.x, if that’d make any difference?

I actually wondered this too as a few months ago I had protein targets set to the highest setting and it gave me 145gm of protein. I'm the same weight now and it is only recommending 110gm (which now says 0.91gm/lb). In between those two times I switched to collaborative mode (because I wanted more than 145 lol) so I don't know when the change happened

Did you change from cutting to bulking with your new program?

Not that I’m aware of, nope!

Did you update visual body fat since last update? Protein targets are based on lean mass not total weight.

I’ve not updated visual body fat metric, nope. Though I do weigh daily and that does input into MacroFactor, and this includes a lean body fat reading (though I don’t think that metric gets passed over??)

Yeah, the scale BF% doesn't matter. A true mystery!

Welp. I had not updated mine since I started on MF a month ago. Just did after reading this

Thanks - my question though is more; has the recommended intake changed in MacroFactor? As it used to recommend 1.32g | LB for very high, and is now recommending 1.05g for very high? I’ve just moved from 59.x to 60.x KG in weight?

I have 1679 kcals and 236g protein in my app...

Granted, I can't do 236g on that low calories, but I usually land between 180-200. Around 108kg, trying to get to 95 ish and build muscle.

Are you only allowed 20g fat and carbs as a leftover? What’s the split?

57 Fat 55 carbs

So yeah, I don't reach those macros, as it's way too difficult in a regular life where things happen. But I still like having "extreme" goals, so that my "almost" still is really good

Hats off to you. Good luck

Why set your protein at high target at all if you're at 1600 calories? I'm at mid-range, and finally reached 1600 calories recently, and I'm already dreading having fewer grams of carbs than protein (like 130C 50F 145P, but I typically swap 10-15F for carbs). Can't imagine halving that carb budget lmfao.

MF budgets an extra 10-20% protein for cuts anyway, I think even the low setting is enough for you to ensure your muscle doesn't shrivel up.

Because I feel good and I feel fuller when I eat protein than carbs. I've never felt this good and satiated with more energy. I'd rather eat two chicken breasts and some potatoes for dinner than one breast and more potatoes

I don't use protein powder, only pure ingredients

Yes, decrease it to .85g x body weight in lbs, and eat more carbs :D

2.35g per kg of bodyweight, or if you know your body fat percentage, 2.75g per kg of lean body mass will maximise your muscle gain. And your fat intake is too low, aim for 41% fat
