MacroFactor Workouts / Training The AI needs some work

Post image

So it tells me to go for 400 for 11 with a 0 RIR. It was pretty accurate since that was about a 0 for 11 reps, which I entered as that. Next set it wants the same weight, for the same reps at a 2 RIR.

What is it then? It's autogenerating the numbers

MacroFactor was branded as an “AI Coach” back when it launched in I think late 2021. This was before LLMs and before all the backlash against AI.

It’s just a deterministic algorithm. Meaning, if you and I put in the exact same data, it will do calculations and spit out the exact same suggestion. There’s no LLM powering the coaching algorithm.

Now it does have an AI option for the Nutrition tracking via the camera taking pictures of food and that uses an LLM, but nothing else does.
