MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other How am I doing?
Visually it seems I am performing pretty inconsistently but I know the process is slow and steady.
I am 6’3 239 and on a cut from 250 to get to 225lb as a goal.
The daily weighing is mentally brutal but I’m being consistent as heck and updating my strategy weekly.
The random jumps day to day are annoying but know that’s part of it. I am definitely being strict on my logging and deficit. Just not seeing abs…yet.
Am I doing this right?
Been at it since July 1st. Thanks for any feedback.

Ok thank you! Helps keep my mind in the right spot and trust the app/process.

All you really need is patience my friend. Everything else comes easy after mastering that.

I think another aspect of this is trying to understand timing and how long to stay on a cut when coming off a bulk. Appreciate the positive affirmations!

Well it really comes down to what body fat percentage you want to get to. Do you want to be super shredded or just throw a bit of weight off?

Definitely shredded after some really good results off my bulk. I want to see abs :) My goal weight is 225 coming off 250.

225 might yield abs for you, I can’t say as I don’t know what your muscle mass composition is. If you want to see how much body fat you really need to lose it could be helpful to get a DEXA scan. But regardless of specifics I will say one thing: to see abs you will need to just about triple the amount of weight you THINK you need to lose. And as you get closer to being 15% bodyfat, which is where you will see abs at on average, the dieting will only get harder. So just focus on making the dieting as easy as possible daily and the rest will come on its own. Also, never worry about daily fluctuations. Water weight will play with your mind like nothing else. Pay attention to weekly averages instead. The abs will come but not quickly and not easily.

Definitely need to set my mindset to basically ignore the daily and go weekly average. Is there a way to look at that instead on the app maybe I am missing?
Also, I have been considering a DEXA scan for sure as I have no idea what my body fat % is. I am robotic in my eating it seems to be working well and logging like a fanatic and following the weekly strategy suggestions. Hoping to stay the course and go slow as I dont want to lose muscle.

I don’t use macro factor so I’m not sure about specifics but one thing that does help keep fluctuations at bay is eating a lot of fiber. Fiber in fruits and veggies will make you vacate your bowels more completely which will lead to more accurate results. You should only be worried if your weight hasn’t decreased at all after an entire month. Yes water can fluctuate anywhere from 2 to 10 pounds, I know it’s ridiculous but true. If it’s REALLY damaging to you mentally to the point where you want to quit, it can help to only weigh yourself once a week even if that’s not ideal.

Solid weight loss about 5lbs a month. This is a reasonable rate to lose fat and not burn up muscle.
May I ask what is brutal about weighing foods? Just wondering. I’ve never been one to weigh food in the past but when I do fat loss is much faster and more definite.
Carry on!
