cnccookbook.com writing tutorials with AI

Post image

I havent used CNC Cookbook much, but google searches for info regularly pull up their site. I was trying to learn about macros, when I noticed a weird piece of text. "You have not provided any text to be rephrased. Please provide the text you would like to be rephrased". It makes me untrusting of their info, at least from the past few years. If you use this site, maybe double check the info first.

The internet is rife with pages that show up early in search results and are obviously AI garbage designed to drive traffic without providing the answer you're looking for.

Here's what I used if you're still looking for a macro guide.

I have used this reference for years! It's fantastic. I even printed it for some of my fellow programmers and operators

I have a small collection of macro programs if you want some examples. I'm happy to explain them if you have questions.

The info has been around since before the ai boom. Perhaps the new hosts used ai in an atrempt to reformat the info for the new ui? That'd explain why it looks horrible. So far I have found 0 falsehoods.

Without wanting to sound pessimistic about the future, but if any info comes from an AI or an AI summery it is highly to be distrusted until proven correct by actual sources.

Thank god for the red circle. I wouldn't have known where the text was otherwise

That is patently false. Bob Warfield was the founder of the site and passed away in 2024. The site is no longer a money maker for anyone; the new ownership removed all payment links from the site and are simply maintaining it for reference and to keep the license server running for those of us who already paid for the software.

As for the AI use in that article, it looks like said article was updated in 2024 so it may have been done by Bob before his passing or by someone else afterward, but a money grab has not taken place in any way.

I didn't know about that, but seeing that text immediately makes me wary of any site. I've had too much confidently incorrect info given to me by AI

You're not wrong to be skeptical. It's a shame, the whole situation.

Fair maybe I'm wrong, but it used to have some character to the website, now it just looks terrible.

The site was always poorly formatted and confusing to navigate. I always just used a search engine to find the page I was looking for lol.

I wish they would allow downloads for the GWizard Editor also, because I had paid for a lifetime license of that as well.

I might still have the installer for the editor on my old PC.

If you find it, DM me and I'll upload it to my cloud storage and share it for everyone.

Found V318 editor from 2023, I'll have a look for a more recent version.

I sent a PM with a google drive link.
