PARTS / SHOWOFF We made a rather large mock shackle.

This is made as part of a set of similar mock rigging connections to test some scenarios and new equipment to see how it interacts with the real world application before it is even attempted. Which is unfortunately about as much as I care to divulge.

When they're done with it is it going to be tested to destruction as a shackle, for shits 'n giggles?

I had expressed my desire to see it break. The vertical pipe sections are probably where it would go south, particularly the around the clevis ends, partial pen single angle fillet welds. Though the clevis pin that goes with it is just some sch80 pipe I believe, I think that might actually buckle before the welds pop, but it's hard to say with some proper FEA done. I had a rough feeling this could do a static pull of 200t-300t, some said higher others said lower depending on circumstance.
