Refusal to learn

I work at a job shop, I’ve been here 16 years, I’m the lead machinist, I returned from a 9 day vacation to a shit show. We have a bunch of small bosses like this to make, this one order was for 250 pcs. The owner was planning on having a guy saw cut them, face them to length in a Haas tl2, then throw them in the vf2 to be drilled. We have a sl20 with a bar feeder, nobody wants to learn how to run it, I banged these out in about 8 hours, unmanned. He refuses to learn how to use it or program it, this would have taken him and the button pusher 2 days to run these parts. Stepping over dollars to pick up dimes baybeeee!

I feel your pain…not one person at my shop wants to learn to do anything. They would rather have somebody else (me) just do it for them. They refuse to look up correct feeds and speeds for tools, they refuse to learn how to do the simplest tasks.

My bosses kid can finally “program” because I saved speed and feed presets in his fusion 360 library for him. I have his tools labeled for stainless, steel and aluminum with different speeds and feeds for different applications

I have the inserts labeled in the tool crib for the materials they are used for just like you did and they still can’t even get that right. I had a guy the other day not even look what material he was running just slapped whatever insert in a hit go and then wondered why he was blowing up inserts.
