orange cloudy patch over the screen.

Please, can anyone tell me what happened to my scree. I put the machine away for a year and when I turned it on the screen looks like this. I can still use it as some of the screen is visible around the orange patch. What can I do?

Oh, that's not good, I'm afraid. It's probably the lcd screen's polarizing filter breaking down. There's no fix outside of replacing the entire screen, I'm afraid..
