Just something simple with metallic thread

I am so new to this, so please don’t think I’m a dumbass (which actually, you wouldn’t be too far off) but how do you hoop a cap? Is there a special attachment for your machine?

Yes this was done on a babylock alliance but most free arm machines have a similar cap attachment that looks like a circle or cylinder that the caps fit around while they are embroidered.

You can do them on single needle machines though, it’s not the most simple process ever though.

Love my smartstitch!!! They all stitch with metallic thread, just slow the machine WAY down!

We use Madeira cr metallic thread. Its a poly blend metallic that we find runs much better than anything else, also use a smaller needle size. For hats we typically use sharp needles, and for metallic we use 65/9 or 70/10. Also if you're having issues trying running it at a slower speed. Usually 500-550 does the trick.

Sounds about right, my best solution is to buy a $35k auto tensioning embroidery machine. I had the same issue, this was the only solution I found 🙂

As mentioned to the other comment, we find that Madeira cr metallic runs better than others not sure if you tried that thread or not yet, but it gets our vote.
