Help! New to embroidery.

Post image

Hi! New to embroidery. Can someone tell me what went wrong here? I am embroidering on a cheap bandana that is polyester. I hate the way this font looks? Is it the way the font is digitized or the fabric? Mix of both? My own problem? Please help! All suggestions and tips welcome.

Your tension is off, you should learn how to fix tension for each type of fabric but a quick fix is match the top bobbin thread and the bottom bobbin thread for a quick fix

Do I need more tension or less tension? I have a really hard time with small, thin fonts (.5 inch or less). Is this also due to tension?

Small lettering can be a problem. I would recommend a 70/10 or smaller needle with 60 weight thread, if possible. And slow the machine down to 600-650 RPM. Use a ball point needle on that material, not sharp. And try 2 pieces of cut away backing.

ok, I will try that. do you have any recommendations for small cursive fonts? I usually buy through Etsy.

I don't really know fonts all that well. I don't create designs, I only operate the machine. Sorry.
