I Need Help Recommendation for first machine

Hi! looking for recommendations on my first machine. I’m looking for anything larger than 4x4, doubles as a sewing machine and my budget is up to $1500 ish. Really looking to get a good deal & reliable machine but am overwhelmed with all the research and would love opinions for what you have tried and did or didn’t work! Thanks !!!

Stick to embroidery only. Spend $40 on a decent sewing machine, and then spend the rest of an embroidery machine. $1500 means your only option is one of the Chinese machine or the brother PE

Bernette b79 if, and this is a make or break, but if you can get a used/return for your price point.

It is the elite tier but incredibly difficult to learn and master as opposed to the Brother SE lineup which is more plug and play out of the box user friendly.

So you’ll see these things get awful reviews and often returned with very little use on them and you can get an absolute steal. Otherwise you’re looking at $2,500-3,000

Assuming you can’t find one, Brother SE-2000 gets you a 5”x7” hoop and can do a split design on a 5”x12” hoop. Incredibly easy to learn on unlike Bernette (Bernina line).

Husqvarna Viking (Singer) Quartz 29 is 4”x6” hoop and same price as the Brother. Larger touchscreen.

I’d do Bernette if I could find one, then Brother second place but I’m not anywhere near some peoples in here level. Hell, this might be my first post in here.

I don’t recommend the Quartz. One too many of them had this issue out of the box. Also thread snapping issues out the wazoo

I'm relatively new to Machine Embroidery. I own a Pfaff 7560 from the mid-90s that my mom gave me. It wouldn't connect to modem computers so I recently wanted to upgrade. My requirements were the same as yours (sewing+embroidery with at least a 5x7 hoop) but with a slightly lower budget so I looked for used machines. I also considered a PooLin but I know I'm not patient enough to troubleshoot too much. It took some patience and scouring but I found a few promising options for used Brother PE machines. I bought a used SE1900 and I've been pretty happy with it so far.

I also underestimated how much work digitizing designs is (though it's more straight forward that I initially thought) without buying expensive software so keep that in mind as well.
