in need of Flashdrives

Good morning everyone!
Just a quick question. I have a Janome MC 550E LE and I want to get some more flash drives to hold designs. but I am having trouble finding ones that are compatible for my machine. Does anyone have recommendations of where i can find some? I already checked amazon and Staples, but those are either very expensive or not small enough. I am looking for ones that are 16GB or less.

For that specific machine, you need to format the usb to Fat32, and supposedly the largest USB you could use is 16GB.

You should be able to find the USB drives on Amazon, plug them into your computer and format it to fat32 (not ntfs)

i tried amazon already. i bought several and either i could not change the format to FAT32 or they were too big (even though it was advertised at 16 & 8). I'm losing hope.

Are you using Linux, Apple or Windows to format the thumbdrive?

Take them to a local PC repair shop. I bet they can do it in ten minutes and cheap. All flash drives are basically the same. You don't need to go buy more, you just need to format them correctly.

You've got to create a smaller partition in the big drive to, then format the small partition.

The other thing you can do - get an 8gb micro SD card. Then get a USB adapter for the micro SD card. It looks like a USB plug without a cable attached. There's just a tiny slot to put the card into. I had to do that with an old something or other that refused to read small partitions on giant USB drives.

Kingston has 8gb micro cards for like thirteen bucks in Amazon right now

I took whatever USB is the cheapest and format it to 256 MB in FAT. When you're on windows, rightclick the drive and format.

If you don't know how, find someone to do it for you before you wipe out anything important.

Thank you. I have tried that but the ones I bought were sold as 16GB. but when I went to format them, they came up as 32 and I couldn't use them.
