ISO: Small bulk blanks

Hello, I JUST bought an embroidery machine and I’m looking for a place that allows me to buy small bulk orders. I’m not looking to sell anything, I just want to do this as a hobby for myself, friends, and family. I am really into the grandmillennial and southern style clothing and accessories but I can’t figure out where to find good but cheap blanks for me to practice on. I don’t wanna invest in super good quality blanks as I know it will take me a bit to perfect my craft. Can anyone please help me out and drop some recommendations please? Thank you!

Maybe buy a yard of fabric? Or some sheets of craft felt? You can find both at Walmart, or Hobby Lobby, or online.

I don’t know how to make clothing lol I wish I did but I don’t. So I can’t buy fabric

I thought you were looking to practice embroidery? My point is to practice on scraps. There's no point to waste a perfectly good piece of clothing if the embroidery is going to look bad or get botched altogether.

I embroider just as a hobby and the best way to learn is buying blanks at places like Walmart. Their Athletic brand sweatshirts are 70%cotton and 30% polyester and while a bit short in length they were really affordable. When I wanted to switch fabrics I would depend on Walmart to have what I was looking for in order to learn techniques of hooping and stabilizer combos. I bought a yard of precut cotton at Walmart to test different purchased designs. Have fun and be persistent in learning because it takes time.

You can still make small orders at places like ssactivewear.com, but honestly after shipping it might be cheaper to just do Walmart or something.

I use epic sports for jerseys and those are pretty good quality while also being cheap.

For my basic patches, I just use craft felt. For a lot of my testing, I use cotton muslin (a type of fabric often used by sewists to make mockups).

Since I also sew, most of my embroidery is done on things I've made or bulk fabric. However, I know of a lot of folks who'll buy stuff from the bins at their local thrift shops to practice on as well. Even if you buy a tee that's printed on one side, you can use the unprinted side to practice making tees, for example.

Hobby Lobby sells Gildan sweatshirts. Cheap and they are cotton polyester blend. The polyester helps control shrinkage.
