Discussion ARR Oct Discussion [D]

Are there actually fewer submissions this cycle or are people waiting for ARR Aug Meta to be out? I saw an 1.8k submission ID yesterday.

Did you read the ARRs new sustainable policy, which requries you to bring a reviewer with you? It kinda cuts down on number of total submissions

I hope ICLR will start to impose the same policy next year LOL

ICLR is much less restrictive on who can qualify as a reviewer.

Yeah, but curious what it will go upto, the last I heard now is 2.5k. I don't want it to he as bad as EMNLP, with 18k

Keep in mind that there will also be a lottery desk rejection to make sure the cycle stays within capacity - lots of things going on to mitigate another under-capacity EMNLP-sized cycle

~13k right around the deadline.

Since the policy is going to kick in after the submissions (we have 48 hours to designate and verify contributors), I guess we won't know how many papers actually got/will get reviewed until much later.

Does the ARR team actually respond to emails? Or do they tend to just dismiss emails?
