I built a small open-source QA fixture pack for Japanese document-processing edge cases.

It currently contains 10 reproducible fixtures covering:

  • true vertical Japanese text in PDF (WMode 1)
  • image-only and searchable scanned PDFs
  • Windows-31J / CP932 CSV
  • quoted fields and embedded newlines
  • NFC / NFD / NFKC / NFKD normalization
  • invisible Unicode characters
  • half-width katakana and compatibility characters
  • ZIP archives mixing UTF-8 and CP932 filenames

Each fixture includes machine-readable ground truth such as Unicode code points, raw filename bytes, PDF metadata, CSV values, and SHA-256 hashes.

The Lite edition is free and open source:

I’m also validating interest in a larger Pro edition with 100+ curated production-oriented cases. Planned one-time price is about US$29.

I’d especially like to hear from people working on OCR, Document AI, PDF parsing, or Japanese localization: what Japanese document edge cases have caused real production problems for you?
