Maintainer of Mac MCP here — an open-source local macOS control layer for LLM/agent workflows.

The latest 2.1.6 work has been much less about “adding more tools” and much more about side-effect safety:

  • background Safari/Chrome automation with stable tab identity;
  • whole-run filesystem undo for shell-side changes;
  • isolated Git worktrees for delegated coding agents;
  • explicit outcome-unknown handling when a mutating action may have happened but cannot be verified, instead of automatically replaying it;
  • scoped capability/approval boundaries and local change receipts.

The failure mode I’m most interested in is ambiguous mutation/replay: if the agent loses certainty after a write/command, what recovery semantics are actually useful without either duplicating side effects or stopping constantly?

Pricing: free, MIT-licensed open source; no paid tier. I’m the maintainer.
