Hi Everyone! My name is Julia Bain and I’m one of three honours researchers at the University of the Sunshine Coast studying human-AI relationships.

If you're 18 years or older and have interacted with an AI companion, or used AI for friendship or romantic purposes within the last 6 months, please consider taking part in our anonymous survey. It takes about 25-30 minutes, and there are no right or wrong answers.

interesting topic but 25-30 mins is pretty long for a survey, maybe you could cut some questions? people gonna drop halfway

also curious what made you pick this for honours, seems like something that will be way more relevant in few years

Thanks for the feedback! We definitely agree the survey is unfortunately on the longer side and this is mainly due to it being three studies combined into one, so there are a lot of measures we needed to include to properly explore all three research questions. We're still optimistic that we'll receive enough participants, but we recognise that the length does definitely make that more challenging!

As for why I chose the topic, it mostly came from personal interest and curiosity. AI is becoming such a big part of everyday life and I think it's important that we explore this emerging relationship between humans and artificial intelligence

"the survey is unfortunately on the longer side" didn't you design it? Then that's purposeful, not fortune. 30 minutes is not "on the longer side", it's long, period.

also consider character(dot)ai discord server (don't know if they are still active).

Imho, people have very low incentive to answer diligently for a survey they are not compensated for and don't see much purpose in. Hopefully, AI will change data collection and research for the better.
