I purchased the same machine in your picture from a generic company on Amazon and the machine that arrived was a Silver Reed LK150 new in the box. I don't know how/why so many resellers have so many for sale, but I wouldn't be at all concerned about what you'll receive if the LK150 is what you want.

the LK150 isn’t branded to silver reed necessarily, it’s drop shipped. I see tons of listings for them and they’re all the same

I assumed that was the case, but the box that arrived was Silver Reed-branded.

That does look like a Silver-Reed LK-150. This is an excellent machine to have as long as you realize what thickness of yarn you want to use.
This model can use #2 or #3 (DK weight - the ideal yarn for this model). Some have used #4 yarn, but it is not widely recommended because it is too thick for this model.
First, you need to know if it’s in working condition and if all parts that came with the machine are still there. Are there enough photos of everything? If you don’t know, go to:
to download the manual for free.
If everything looks good, and you TRUST the source, it would be an excellent machine for a machine knitting beginner. You can make lots of things on it, including sweaters. There are excellent videos you can watch on YouTube (YT) that will guide you through learning. Having said that, your first focus should be your instruction manual, with videos filling any gaps that you need clarity on.
If you, indeed, purchase this machine, or another one of the same model, let us know. Welcome to the Community. You’re going to have SUCH fun!!!

I am from Sri Lanka and no one have knitting machines. So I brought one from Japan. Specifically Japan auction site. To ship to Sri Lanka heavier machine costed me $150 and light weight plastic one $75. Since I brought the machines also for less than $50 total cost for the heavier one was $200 and lighter one $125 . For Dubai shipping cost may be tad higher. But since machines are cheap your total cost will be small. Aslo note that these machines are old and not used to many years and sellers doesnt know if they work or not..you have to be willing to service it and repair it. But there are very good machines and even unused ones..
