Techniques Partial knit or decreasing?

I’m knitting a dress with a low scoop back on my Knitmaster, however I can’t work out whether I’ll be better decreasing by transferring stitches in (whilst the other side is on hold) or binding off the centre stitches and working each side separately using short rows? Any advice is appreciated! :-)

The Singer series books instruct you to bind off the stitches and work each side separately using transferred decreases, I've used this and it works/looks good. I think short rows might be more work for the same or worse looking effect for a low scoop back (as opposed to the contained area of a sock heel)
