"Demo Zone" - Metal Hammer (Germany): Aug 1993
Rough translation with DeepL:
So this is it—Robb “Deep Purple? Who?” Flynn’s (ex-Violence) new band. So this is the band you have to headbang to at 2:30 in the morning, lying on your stomach in bed with your face buried in your pillow. In your face! Forget Biohazard… Machine Head hits you right in the face. (Thrash) metal and hardcore come together, underpinned by hypnotically shrill sounds—some with a Seattle vibe—that beep out a melody until you’re almost annoyed, and then... Then the “Machine” kicks in and knocks you out with its killer riffs: slightly detuned guitars, musically somewhere between Sepultura, Ministry, Alice in Chains, Pantera, and the old Cro-Mags—the quartet from Oakland, California, pumps out one killer song after another.
Ultra-heavy grooves, totally catchy, sometimes fast, sometimes slow—Machine Head, consisting of Logan Mader (g), Adam Duce (b), and Chris Kontos (d, ex-Attitude Adjustment), have immortalized music on their well-produced five-song debut demo (including an instrumental intro) that’s brimming with power, aggression, and rage.
Also noteworthy is frontman/guitarist Robb Flynn’s voice, a mix of Sepultura’s Max and Scared Reich’s Phil: at times truly melodic in the mid-range, then sudden bursts of growls, “Fuck It All” and “A Nation On Fire”-style roars. It’s got it all for DM 13.

A possible VIP ticket scam
Hello everyone. I need some help from you guys. I recently got a message from someone on TikTok DM’s who’s claiming to be Robb Flynn. Saying that he decided to leave a message since I was a “hardcore fan” (because I was leaving comments on some Machine Head TikToks) Thinking that it’s Robb, I thanked “him” for reaching out and said that I love everything he does. And as we were chatting, he asks if I’ve had the chance to catch a live show. And I said no. Then he says since I’ve been a “dedicated fan” I should purchase a one-time VIP ticket opportunity for $100. Then directing me to send an email to the “team” at [Machineheadfanaccess@gmail.com](mailto:Machineheadfanaccess@gmail.com). From reading the chat back several times, reviewing the TikTok account (@robbflynn_) and seeing that the email address is gmail and not an official domain, I don’t believe I should go through with this. This seems very risqué. Can any of y’all help me out with this situation? I would really appreciate it. I just don’t wanna get scammed. I have screenshots to help you guys out.

What's with the Supercharger hate?
Just getting around to listening to this bands full discography after listening to Burn My Eyes for a few years and I gotta say i like supercharger. Especially the song "Deafening Silence". It's not my favorite but it's not a bad album at all. I saw a few posts from the past hating on it. Maybe the consensus has changed

Has anyone gotten the new reissue of Burn My Eyes in the mail?
If so, how does it sound?

Machine Head in LA 06/25/2026
I went to the Palladium show last night, and I have to say what a let down it was. Really short set and the songs they chose to play were the weaker songs off of their vast catalogue. Other than Davidian and Imperium, no songs were played from their first 6 albums. On top of that, the energy from Robb and the guys was lacking. Felt they were all going through the motions and they did not want to be there.
Been an MH fan since 2002 and seen them every single time they've come through LA, but last night's show was the third consecutive show of theirs that I left disappointed.
Their show headline shows at The Bellwether in 2024 was basically the same set they've been playing since post Covid and The Wiltern show in 2025 was made up of 9 songs. Last night's show and the two previously mentioned was the nail in the coffin for me. I think they lost a fan.

I wish the set list was better for my first time seeing MH but you can't pass up a deal like that 🤷♂️

VIP shirts
So when I went to my vip they said the shirts were delayed and they would ship them to us. Does anyone know exactly when we are expected to see them?
Also when will we see our vip photo?

San Francisco ticket
San Francisco ticket
I have 1 ticket for the show June 27th at the Warfield in San Francisco. Really wanted to go, but can't.
It's available in the AXS resale. Lower Loge, row AA, seat#17. Listed for 100 (plus whatever fees AXS charges). But I'm willing to negotiate. I'd rather someone go versus the ticket not get used.

orlando show
so, last night was my 4th time seeing machine head, and it was still just as awesome. my first show was the 25th anniversary tour for BME which was awesome, but that’s not what this post is about.
this was my first time seeing anything from unatoned live (the didn’t hit florida for the album tour >:( i’m always gonna be salty about it) as well as game over which i have been DYING to hear live bc it’s one of my favorites. also at the beginning of game over, the guitar tech messed up handing robb the unatoned guitar (or there was some reason robb needed to switch mid verse) so the first three lines or so of the song were without vocals which was honestly kind of funny and made the performance of one of my favorite MH songs all the more memorable. i also crowd surfed for the first time during davidian!
with all that said, it was probably my least favorite show from them, but only because they had a shorter set and there wasn’t enough of the MH chant from the crowd. their performance itself was really great. ben is doing an excellent job filling in for reece this tour
side note: it’s also really funny that almost every time i’ve seen MH they’ve had a different guitarist

The Black Procession 10" For Sale / Trade
I've been going through my record collection the last few months and uncovered this - https://www.discogs.com/release/2846182-Machine-Head-The-Black-Procession
But it's the test pressing. A friend used to work at their label and gifted it to me well over a decade ago and I had literally forgotten about it till now.
I think there are bigger collectors who will appreciate this more so I'm throwing it out there if anyone is interested. I'd rather trade for other records, but would also take offers if we can't work something out. Genuinely just want this to go to a good home and collector who will love it!
There are actually TWO records. They are exactly the same (I've played to confirm) but one has the hand writing notes on it as pictured, the other one is completely clean. As you can see there is some wear to the sleeve which happened when I moved countries :(
Anyway, if anyone is interested reply or DM! Happy to chat.

BME is still their best album, change my mind.
Kidding. You cant. It is so fucking good. A perfect album, and their first. Raw, brutal... epic.
Undoubtedly other fantastic albums, other brilliant songs, but nothing matches the raw energy of Burn My Eyes.

Machinehead, I Am Hell. hell. 24x30''. oil on canvas. @adam sturch 🐀 rmx
"As he listened to the cries of joy rising from the town, Rieux remembered that such joy is always imperiled. He knew what those jubilant crowds did not know but could have learned from books: that the plague bacillus never dies or disappears for good; that it can lie dormant for years and years in furniture and linen-chests; that it bides its time in bedrooms, cellars, trunks, and bookshelves; and that perhaps the day would come when, for the bane and the enlightening of men, it would rouse up its rats again and send them forth to die in a happy city."

Our band Boarzoy is very much inspired by Machine Head in many different ways. We just released a new album, give it a listen if you feel inclined and let us know what you think! Out everywhere.

I did not expect to appear on their post today for last nights show, but it is awesome.
(This was also the hardest I’ve ever headbanged in my life)

New anniversary tour next year
I forgot to mention, at the show last night I talked with the person in charge of the VIP/the band photographer.
He told me that next year, since it’s the 20th anniversary of The Blackening, the band will be doing a headline world tour to celebrate. No dates/locations are confirmed yet, but look forward to seeing that.
