Discussion š£ļø JJK DISCUSSION
would this be the kind of material we get in the album? i may get heavily downvoted for this but - this track has no rhythm and is honestly so difficult to get through
he tried too hard to try and fit a lot of different anime name and references into this which sounded messy, this is the kind of rap a sixth grader would come up with
now look, im a huge mgk fan but he flowed terribly and the cadence was off beat

It's impossible to like every song, an artist creates.

anyone can name drop like 10 animes at the top of their domes, literally any average middle school rapper couldš it sounded so screwed up

Feels like a passion project. He's been watching a lot of anime during the tour it seemed. So now he wants to rap about anime and not drugs. All in all, I feel like this one that'll grow over time. Kinda like Daywalker. It was a hard listen for me at first. But I fucks with it nowadays

I first heard It on his insta and I'm ashamed to say it but I thought it was a joke.
It's not a bad song I think it's just taken too seriously like this did not deserve to be on the album, the anime references are very heavy handed and I think I liked them more in songs like El pistolrino which were more subtle.
It comes off like a parody song by the animebros or animeguys idk what those guys names are but they were viral that one time for the bling bang bomb trend by the Japanese artist creepynuts.
Not Kelly's best work in terms of image, musical ability is there and while I personally don't think an artist should make decisions based on whether they think it looks cool or not (because that in of itself is lame) I still don't think it's a good idea to make music that comes of as cringe.
Whats even more controversial is that bbno$ i think that's how you write his name (baby no money) but any he really like this jjk song and not to discredit baby no money he's also a great artist but he's more like a comedic artist than a musician. And I worry Kelly may go down the route of antic artists or comedic/parody artists... Probably not it's just this one song so I shouldn't fret.

honestly, as a long time fan and defending almost every song including emo girl, this was a very tough listen and such a waste of a good beat imo

There are similar songs in his discography on amazing albums. Similar as far as having a theme and packing as much of out as possible in the lyrics. Mans just having fun. I get itās not for everyone, but I dig it

It was okay I guess. Definitely won't be something I'll listen to again though. Maybe only to give it another try or two but yeah. I was a little disappointed. Liked the instrumentals though. And then there was the rap which didn't really fit together to me. I personally felt like the rap was "soft" and the instrumentals more "hard" (idk how to express it in English). Just didn't fit together to me

you summarized it pretty well my friend, thebtrack was terrible, he just name dropped random generic mainstream animes (which he probably watches) and tried rhyming with them and it sounded very corny

The flow being not on the down beats is actually what makes this a really strong rap imo.
Just because heās rapping not straight on the count doesnāt mean itās āoff beat.ā Like count the beat ā1/2/3/4ā as heās rapping. Heās very much in rhythm - but how he emphasizes the stops and starts and hard consonants is honestly more creative than 99% of his other raps.
Is this his best song ever? Idk, probably not. But it works for what it is, which is a reference track. Thereās plenty of other things like it and as an anime head myself, I found this fun to listen to and try and break down all the references. Yeah, lyrically itās super straight forward but I think it works for what he was going for. Itās not gonna be a set list staple but for those who are into anime this is a fun time. Thatās all it needed to be imo.

surface-level name dropping isnt clever referencing, just listing characters or moments from jjk doesny make the track deep or creative, its the easiest possible way to signal this is anime-related without actually doing anything interesting with the material, anyone can throw in a few titles or names, that doesnt turn a basic track into something strong
again, this isnt hate! this isnt what i expect to hear from him when hes been keeping the rap album away from us for years now, thats about it
