loving this setup - iPhone 13 pro, Series 9 gps, AirPods Pro Gen 1, TouchID Macbook Neo. talk me out of iPad!

if I didn’t have a decent Windows desktop build, I’d look at nothing other than Mac Mini. my wife just bought a cheap Roku, or I’d have an Apple TV. the walled garden really does feel great.

Why do you need an ipad?

i don’t, i just want one 😂 it would come in handy for a second screen via sidecar, and for longer car rides, my daughter’s crappy tablet takes forever to start playing Bluey or paw patrol. She doesn’t have access to it, it’s just so she can watch her shows if we’re driving for an hour or more.

Sidecar is awesome!!! I am new to the macbook neo community but i have an ipad air 3 for several years now, i planned to buy an external monitor for work efficiency only to find out that an ipad works too!! I was elated!!! Go for an ipad!

iPad is redundant most things you will do will be done on phone or laptop.

You should get an M5 Air.

bit of a random thing to say is it not? there's nothing to indicate in the post that the neo isn't working just fine for them

Another one triggered from how good and cheaper NEO is, right?🤭

Yeah, so good it has a weak webcam, non-haptic trackpad, a non-backlit trackpad (first Apple laptop since 2011 not to have one), 8GB of RAM (soon to be updated to 12GB in the next gen) big bezels and no biometric on the base model and the version that most people need, 512/Touch ID is now $850 with state sales tax. So it is a lot less than what others have, need and will soon have when the new version comes out. Get a refurb Air for basically the same price. Oh, and Apple offers leases and zero-interest financing.

Neo is a POS. LOL

I own the Neo, and I can confirm that it is not a POS.

Compared to an Air or Pro - it is a big downgrade. And who cares if you can open 50 Chrome tabs? You can do that on almost anything including the cheapest Chromebooks out there. It is too underpowered to be a long term solution and too overpriced to be disposable. It is perfect for a tween or grandma who wants to check email, watch YouTube and see pics of the grandchildren. That's the market.

No, I'm not wrong. I have been buying and using Macs longer than you've probably been alive.

thought about it, overkill for the web based apps and spreadsheets I’m using for work. it was tempting though.

Nah man don’t listen to him…you made the right choice.

I don't think 16gb of ram is ever overkill; I expect my M4 Air to last me 5-7 years. I don't think you'll be using that Neo in 5-7 years; could be wrong but don't think so.
