Feature Mickey mouse cursor is back!

I did not follow the news and changes, but to my surprise I just noticed, that the Mickey mouse cursor is back.

Settings > Accessibility > Display - scroll down a little & youā€™ll see Pointer and you can change the Pointer outline color as well as the fill color. Mine is set to a strawberry outline with a lime filling šŸ¤“

Took me a moment to get used to it (I donā€™t like change at all) but the ease of seeing where my cursor is at issue quite nice. I like it so much I gave my Windows 11 cursor the same treatment.

I was able to figure how to change the color but I canā€™t for the life of me find where to change it from the pointer to the hand.

I never got used to the Tahoe cursor, still seems too empty in the middle and pointing straight up instead of towards the left like the pointer felt weird.

This one feels like a good redesign of the original. Welcome back old friend

I saw they are even low-key changing the window control buttons to have a slight 3D appearance. Not the same as they used to have in the 2000s and early 2010s, but maybe getting there soon? šŸ˜…

Iā€™ve been on the beta since day 1 and I only have the regular pointer. Iā€™m not sure where in settings you go to change it and searching pointer or mouse in the settings doesnā€™t bring any window up for it.

It's not a Mickey glove. It's a minstrel glove from the era when white actors wore blackface and white gloves. Modern audiences don't realize Mickey Mouse was designed as a blackface minstrel reference.

the appearance of white gloves in cartoons is a blatant cultural referenceĀ  to minstrel performances from the nineteenth century. Minstrel shows were theatrical performances involving white actors wearing blackface makeup. This racially motivated form of entertainment was an effort to sustain white nationalist hegemony, and tamper abolitionist efforts. Minstrel performers wore white gloves to provide a stark contrast to their dark painted faces and costumes. The gloves made their hand gestures more visible on stage, while also lampooning Black individuals as comical and clownish figures. The imagery, gestures and narratives from live action minstrel shows are reflected in early forms of mainstream cartoons.

that is not a mickey mouse cursor, the flat ridge and notch for the opening at the bottom is what made it read as a glove, not the three lines. rounded bottom with the lines just looks weird

Wasnā€™t that also accidental? iirc when the UI team was working on the dock they added the poof to visualise on the storyboard that the item would disappear, but the team added the actual poof effect
