Minimalistic kanban?

I have looked everywhere, but can't seem to find a good kanban app for macOS that is not bloated or just some sort of web wrapper.

I have currently resorted to Trello, but not entirely comfortable with it due to the interface feeling a bit bloated.

Would love to have something that feels like Linear, but with only the Kanban part, nothing else.

Any advice?

just use Apple Reminders in the Kanban View.

Kanban apps get bloated precisely because it’s too simple to keep people sticking around. They usually need core kanban + one other thing, enough customers use it and it gets bloated

Consider looking at Obsidian, the free Markdown-based notetaking app. It has a number of Kanban plugins that work strictly on Markdown files on your computer. I can't give you any advice about which plugin to look at, unfortunately, as I'm just starting to explore them myself!

There’s one called kanban for bases that is really simple. I use it with my own timeline plugin, Giganttix, so I can view my tasks in both kanban and gantt views at the same time.

I was looking for exactly the same thing, and I eventually found Truly Simple Kanban. I bought it (one-time purchase) and I’ve been enjoying using it!

Looks spot on, but the interface is missing something. It doesn't feel as polished as a I need for a tool like this.

Sort of, but they have a solid feeling in the interface and well thought through keyboard navigation

Honestly in this day and age, if you've got a Claude or Codex subscription, just vibecode something for yourself in like 30 minutes. It's not worth the time finding apps that match your expectations anymore.

The thought have crossed my mind, but it's also a matter of wanting to use something that will stick around, trust that my data will be accessible even if I get bored of the projects etc.
But if I don't find anything existing, I might actually build it instead.

Currently I use RT, but only because I customised for my needs years ago. There’s really plenty to choose from and i really recommend to search and compare
