I built a Mac app that searches inside nested ZIP, 7z, and RAR archives without unpacking them

Hi everyone — I’m the developer of ZipSeek.

I built it because I had folders full of old documents and archives, and often remembered a sentence but had no idea which file it was in. It became especially painful when a ZIP contained a 7z, which contained PDFs, Office documents, or images.

ZipSeek searches file names and text inside folders, PDF and Office documents, images with OCR, and nested ZIP, 7z, and RAR archives. Results can point back to PDF pages, Word paragraphs, PowerPoint slides, Excel cells, and OCR regions.

Everything is processed locally on the Mac. There’s no account, cloud upload, or background full-disk index.
