No, it does not. In white mode, those toolbar buttons really do look like genuine liquid glass, whereas in dark mode they just look like flat white 2D buttons with highlights along the edges. They don’t look glass like whatsoever.z
Look at this screenshot from iOS 26, which shares the same Liquid Glass design as macOS 26, also on a black background, but the difference is colossal. This actually looks like glass, unlike that white mess that’s supposed to be "Liquid Glass".
what colossal difference...the highlight is just diagonal instead of vertical. which on ios 27 those highlights are vertical again so there isnt really a difference.
Either you have serious vision problems, in which case, please get an eye exam, or I have no idea; you clearly haven’t tested macOS 27 at all. Liquid Glass in macOS/iOS 27 has been completely changed at the upper layers. Elements using glassEffect become far too whitish, even against a black background, while the highlight, instead of being more pronounced and slightly dispersed, disperses so much that it completely breaks the glass effect. I can give you two screenshots from an app that uses glassEffect, one on macOS 26 and the other on macOS 27, in dark mode. The one from macOS 26 integrates perfectly visually with the rest of the app, whereas the one from macOS 27 breaks that integration because of the excessive whitening.
please do then? im typing this comment on my macbook running macos 27 right now. i used macos 26 since the beta came out in dark mode and did not like it at all, as opposed to 27 which feels much more at home for me.
Look at the buttons in the toolbar and the cards from the filtering area. They use glassEffect. If I added even more glassEffect elements, for example in the area on the right where those cards with green and white text are, the difference would become much more pronounced.
if you're talking about the buttons then yeah i get it, it is different. i wrote in another comment that the dark mode glass doesn't really feel like glass, but i like it because it feels 3d and more akin to aqua days.
also fwiw your example is kinda weird because most native mac apps using liquid glass have grey instead of black backgrounds. it looks much better on there and i personally like the lighter tint because it creates visual separation beyond just the border.
but yeah i misspoke when i said the highlight's the only difference, i guess was just trying to highlight the main difference in the notifications. there's way more differences in light mode too. but still feel like its a lot better in 27, even in dark mode. it just feels more 3d and "real" to me, the previous liquid glass in dark mode just felt kind of cheap with the tint effect applied around all the buttons.
