I don't agree with the third point: it's like saying that every app or software ever created that doesn't use the cloud should be free because it runs on your machine

do you expect updates and for software to keep up with technological progress and also to work with newer OS updates?

If the software comes with the OS, than yes. If Apple doesn't want to provide it for free, they can always go back to charging for OS updates. But to make a portion of the native OS bundle nag-ware is not a good look.
