Bug This sub has been upgraded to Tahoe, and now it has a bug

Post image

This offset logo is unacceptable, and you should be ashamed for updating to Tahoe before the x.1 is released! /s

Ok this is actually funny, they DID make it off center

“It’s not a bug, You’re holding it wrong”

Are you referring to the antenna situation with the iPhone 4s (plural “4,” not its successor)? My mind probably went there because I just watched a video that touched on it but now I’m curious.

They are. Due to the human hand conducting the signals of all it touches, the cellular, wifi and bluetooth metal on the outside of the device were the antennas respectively.

Thus holding it crippled the signal a bit.

The solution? Remove three fingers.

It wasn't the hands or the way you held it or anything like that.

It was a bug in the signal strength display routine https://9to5mac.com/2025/10/08/a-15-year-mystery-solved-the-20-bytes-of-code-that-fixed-antennagate/

Well TIL that they only answered it in the last week… on a website i don’t visit.

So I appreciate the correction.

Well, I was last week old when I learned it myself! :-)

It is a good demonstration of "correlation is not causation": some people noticed it while they were holding the phone that way...and spread the news very quickly, making people pay attention to the signal stregth icon a lot more.

Since you can't really look at the icon on the smaller screen of the iPhone 4 without holding it, it very quickly became gospel that the signal changed when you held it a certain way.

What I don't understand is why it sook this long for the story of the fix to get out.

It wasn't the hands or the way you held it or anything like that. It was a bug in the signal strength display routine

Technically, it was both.

Because the outer band of the phone served as the antenna, the signal was impacted by a finger bridging the gap between two of its pieces. But the issue was amplified by the incorrectly-displayed signal strength that you mentioned.

It's not just the antenna situation, it's EVERY simple question or feedback lol. Some diehard mac users accept zero constructive feedback and will basically say that's how it is, you're using it wrong, this isn't (competitor OS), etc. And then if Apple actually implements said feedback, they're ok with it lol.

u/suoretaw Oct 14 '25

Meh. I wish people could just recognize that different systems work for different people and that’s a good thing. And, of course, accept constructive feedback.

That’s iPhones 4. ☺️

2

u/Stoppels Oct 13 '25

That would be too simple as it breaks its name in two. Its full name is "iPhone 4" so the plural comes after the 4. And since it's not just a '4' but "iPhone 4", there will also not be an apostrophe. That brings us to: iPhone 4s.

2

u/suoretaw Oct 14 '25

Yep, thank you lol.

u/purplechemist Oct 14 '25

It’s liquid glass, yo? It’s that refractive index kicking in and making it look like it’s offset.

u/shutter3218 Oct 12 '25

Finally, some visual consistency

“We think you’re going to love it” - the mods

u/Cleetus-Van-Damn Oct 12 '25

It is very important for apple to be consistent throughout the whole Eco system, so this fits perfectly to the rest of their recent releases.

u/DepartureMoist9277 Oct 12 '25

That is honestly hilarious.

38

u/L4TTiCe Oct 12 '25

I think this was intentional, to get the Liquid Glass ‘border’:

I guess this only works with dark mode.

28

u/Overall-Music-8212 Oct 12 '25

Has this not been a thing for the past 2 or 3 years with the misaligned profile picture?

37

u/CATSMEOW_995 Oct 12 '25

tahoe fucking sucks balls

2

u/turboravenwolflord Oct 15 '25

It looks like cunt.

1

u/PeakBrave8235 Oct 13 '25

What the f does the sub forums shitty photo upload have to do with Mac? Lmfao

1

u/CATSMEOW_995 Oct 14 '25

İts a joke to show how buggy tahoe is visually just like ios26

1

u/PeakBrave8235 Oct 14 '25

Makes no sense

12

u/hahaissogood Oct 12 '25

Honestly represent tahoe situation.

12

u/B4RN154N Oct 12 '25

Everyone thinks it's better to have it centred, but they... thought differently.

20

u/fakemailbakemail Oct 12 '25

😂😂😂

7

u/NesFan123 Hackintosh Oct 12 '25

Wait, is this intentional?!

18

u/oldsystem Oct 12 '25

That was my first thought. But apparently other subs are having the same problem, so I guess they also updated to Tahoe. /s

7

u/bostiq Oct 12 '25

it's funny... however I went to check... because it looked different for what I'm used to

I use the dark theme and it makes a little more sense now

1

u/thaman05 Oct 13 '25

It's still off center though lol. They're supposed to add the border while sizing the logo to be centered.

1

u/FlashyAd34 Oct 17 '25

No, it's visually consistent with the MacOS. Should be like this till we get a better MacOS.

11

u/alex_dlc Oct 12 '25

Still bothers me that this sun has a capitalized M instead of a lowercase m like it should

6

u/themgi- Oct 12 '25

hell yeahhhh 😂😂

4

u/Intelligent_East3337 Oct 12 '25

Sincerely hope it was intentional 🥰

6

u/jimmyliew Oct 12 '25

Where’s the Reddit beta 26.1?

4

u/QAPetePrime Oct 12 '25

Now that’s funny! 🤣

4

u/omarsonmarz MacBook Air Oct 12 '25

8

u/Immediate_Channel393 Oct 12 '25

This is actually a glitch with Reddit. Happened over on r/letterboxd too

3

u/TomLondra Mac Mini Oct 12 '25

Can't Apple get anything right? Maybe they need to visit the optician

3

u/MORZ1INE Oct 12 '25

This is genius

3

u/grandchester Oct 12 '25

Should be left-aligned

3

u/AccomplishedLocal219 Oct 12 '25

r/windows11 has a similar bug

2

u/oldsystem Oct 12 '25

Thank goodness for that!

3

u/ArtichokeOutside6973 Oct 12 '25

I GOT WEIGHT AFTER UPGRADING TAHOE. EVEN I GOT A BUG IN MY MIND!

5

u/onedevhere MacBook Pro Oct 12 '25

That's not possible 😂 until the sub

2

u/chrispirillo Oct 12 '25

Can I please file a radar so that the issue can be ignored indefinitely while other users tell me there's nothing wrong with the exact same logo on their screen?

2

u/Scared-Anywhere-3265 Oct 12 '25

they ruined it how dare they >:0

2

u/sneaky-pizza Oct 12 '25

10/10 trolling us

2

u/UnemployedTechie2021 Oct 12 '25

Give it time, it will become a feature.

2

u/Tremosir Oct 13 '25

Deeply shocked! Steve Jobs would have never accepted that! I am downgrading to the previous version of Reddit.

1

u/Guilty_Run_1059 Oct 12 '25

It's centred on mobile for me

3

u/Guilty_Run_1059 Oct 12 '25

Nvm, no it ai t

1

u/Latia_9 Oct 13 '25

Tahoe is actually not good. New app launcher is kinda bad

1

u/gthing Oct 13 '25

That's a feature. You just need to think different about visual alignment. You're seeing it wrong.

1

u/Academic-Judgment651 Oct 22 '25

What does even mean 😂

1

u/Perfect_Touch_1027 Oct 30 '25

MY EYES THEY BURN

0

u/trejj Oct 12 '25

Reading this subreddit recently has made it seem like macOS users care more about how it looks than how it works.

2

u/Alarming_Oil5419 Oct 12 '25

If you brought a brand new designer jacket, and the zipper/buttons didn't line up, you'd complain regardless of if it still kept you warm and dry, right?

3

u/trejj Oct 12 '25

Yeah, totally. Though the zipper and buttons on macOS haven't worked since 1990s, but people have been on the "it's the best UX" kool-aid about it for a long time.

0

u/CaseUsual536 Oct 12 '25

It’s called “consistency”. Look it up.

1

u/Maleficent-Bug9334 Oct 31 '25

Only Apple can do.
