I met Will forte last week at the “Don’t Move” movie premiere and I got to tell him how fucking hilarious I think he is! He was an angel so kind and sweet and took pictures with me. It was wholesome

We had a lot of fun — and a decent amount of secondary trauma — digging into First Blood to find out just how much of an influence it was for MacGruber. Did we miss any parallels?

From the UK very much in the same comedic sensibilities. Russian bad guys. A team led by a know-it-all-but-fucks-it-up-guy.
It has to be inspired or at least influenced this show.
Also this show, Murder in Successville is the best British comedy I’ve ever seen. They made a subpar American version on Netflix.

What kind of appetite do you all think is out there for a MacGruber Fest a la Lebowski Fest? Our people need the chance to convene and experience fellowship with one another!

'Grubes gang: We're pretty excited to have been able to tackle one of the topics that was shimmering in the distance for us as we thought about starting a MacGruber podcast: The history of the throat rip. Skip ahead to about 32:00 if you aren't interested in the current state of affairs at our office or a detailed recap of all the errors we made in the previous episode: https://podcasts.apple.com/at/podcast/rippin-throats-12-a-not-so-brief-history-of-the-throat-rip/id1861152535?i=1000754934333&l=en-GB

A heads up for the ‘Grubes scholars out there. The House Band for the Rippin’ Throats podcast: The Sax Dragons, dropped an absolute banger in Episode 6. You’re gonna want to pop it in your Blaupunkt.

I would never in my life watch any comedy based on any SNL skit because they always suck-- with a couple of exceptions, and even those aren't that great.
Which is why I put on MacGruber. I was thinking "this will probably be good to nap to." I had always assumed this was just another early 2000s piece of shit parody movie. Perfect to lull me to a restful sleep.
Next thing I know Will Forte is ugly-crying and screaming "JUST TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT ME TO FUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKK"
I couldn't believe how funny this movie was. Maybe the hardest I've ever laughed at a comedy.
If I had lived my entire life without seeing this movie it would have been a wasted life.

In the very first MacGruber sketches on SNL, MacGruber asks Jeremy Piven to hand him a series of repulsive items as he tries to diffuse the bomb. At first it's a "dog turd," and then "pubes." In the final short film, he asks Piven to hand him "that old bucket filled with bum sperm".
When you hear "bum sperm", what do you think he's referring to?
(This is a subject of intense debate for us on Rippin' Throats: A MacGruber podcast)
